Prof. Urs Fischer Elected President of the European Stroke Organisation

Professor Urs Fischer, Director of the Department of Neurology at Inselspital Bern and Full Professor of Neurology at the University of Bern, has been elected President of the European Stroke Organisation (ESO). He is the first Swiss physician to lead the European professional society dedicated to stroke.

The ESO brings together clinical experts, researchers and national scientific societies with the aim of improving stroke prevention, diagnosis, treatment and aftercare across Europe.

Prof. Urs Fischer has been actively involved in stroke research and care for many years and leads international multicentre studies focused on advancing stroke therapies. His research has contributed significantly to the development of modern treatment strategies. Fischer is also co-founder of the Stroke Center Bern and past president of the Swiss Neurological Society.
