Message from the President

The idea of creating the Swiss Federation of Clinical Neuro-Societies (SFCNS) originated on August 30, 2006 in Zurich. Officially founded in 2009, the SFCNS has since grown from its six founding societies into a strong national network that today unites 16 member societies, all dedicated to strengthening the clinical neurosciences in Switzerland.

Mission and milestones

The mission of the SFCNS is to promote collaboration and interaction between clinical neuro-societies in order to enhance interdisciplinary knowledge and the overall impact of our disciplines at the medical, scientific, public and political levels.

Since its first national meeting in Basel in 2010, the SFCNS has continuously expanded its role through major national congresses, educational initiatives and strategic mandates. A key milestone was reached in 2012, when the SFCNS received the national mandate to define certification criteria for stroke centres and units, epilepsy centres and deep brain stimulation (DBS) centres.

Since 2021, the SFCNS has been a co-determining society of the FMH, reinforcing its role in shaping the future of Swiss healthcare.

In 2024, the SFCNS launched the Swiss Brain Health Plan (SBHP) —a national flagship initiative dedicated to promoting brain health across all stages of life, from prevention to advanced clinical care.

Driven by innovation, collaboration and responsibility, the SFCNS is shaping the future of clinical neurosciences in Switzerland and beyond.
