New Swiss Neuro-HSM Register for quality control in neuromedicine is ready for use
From 1 January 2024, service providers with an HSM service mandate in the field of complex neurology, neurosurgery and neuroradiology must submit a ‘minimum data set’ for each patient to the Swiss Neuro-HSM Register (SNHR). The Swiss Federation of Clinical Neuro-Societies (SFCNS) has been commissioned by the Conference of Swiss Health Directors (GDK) to set up and operate the registry. The database is now ready for use and the first reporting will take place in 2025.
To access the register, service providers must nominate contact persons by 4 December 2024. Thereafter, the data may be entered retrospectively from 1 January 2024. The entry of the data 2024 is planned as a pilot project. The completeness and quality of the data set are controlled by a working group consisting of delegates from the relevant specialist societies. Data entries for the respective year must be completed by 30 April of the following year, after which the analysis follows. The costs of establishing the register are covered by the SFCNS, running costs will be charged to service providers on a pro rata basis.
The SFCNS has informed all hospitals with service mandates in one or more of the five sub-areas of the HSM area ‘Complex neurology, neurosurgery and neuroradiology’ as well as the cantonal health directors.
