IRP/IFP Schellenberg Prize 2013

The IRP/IFP Schellenberg Prize for Research will be awarded on the basis of scientific merit to recognize recent achievements in the cellular, molecular and clinical aspects of spinal cord development, plasticity and regeneration following lesions.

Eligible for the Prize are young but established group leaders with outstanding achievements in experimental or clinical research related to spinal cord injury and repair.

The Prize sum of 150’000 Swiss Francs is to be used for research purposes (personnel, equipment or supplies) and will be handed over to the winner at an award ceremony in spring 2013 in Switzerland by the IRP Foundation.


Applications should include: 
1) description of his/her accomplishments in spinal cord research (max. 4 pages) 
2) reprints or preprints of relevant publications 
3) curriculum vitae and list of all publications over the last 5 years.

IRP/ IFP Research Grants

in the field of
Basic and Clinical Research on CNS Regeneration / Neuroprotection and Functional Restoration
with special emphasis on the spinal cord

Funds for one or two years will be allocated up to 75’000 Swiss Francs for one year, 150’000 Swiss Francs for two years on the basis of scientific quality and relevance to paraplegia for research proposals studying mechanisms of injury and repair, as well as long term recovery.

Applications from start up groups are welcome.The IRP Foundation will also award one IRP/IFP Fellowship for up to two years to support post-doctoral research in paraplegia (see details on website Applications will be reviewed by an international panel of basic and clinical neuroscientists of the IRP/IFP research council.
